Andrew Baldwin

Kinetic Sculptor

Taking his cue from Tiguely, Takis, Panamarenko and other artists dealing with shifting and movement, Andrew creates moving machine and figures in a space, depth and chaotic state. The machines slow and methodical movements betray a hope and courage situation. It asks the question 'can we build from a delayed situation'. These two works are an expression of a specific relationship. It is telling the story of a passage that two people took when they embarked on a journey together. The passage of the time frame is made visible as the figures come together and fall apart. The figures rarely come together in space and time indicating a life span.
